The Dal Rae is the Southern California restaurant where 1950s classics still reign. Lobster Thermidor, Pepper Steak, Chateaubriand, Prime Rib, Fresh Fish, Rack of Lamb, Steak Diane and Cherries Jubilee prepared tableside are among more than 100 items on a truly retro menu, complete with some of the city's best martinis. Opened in 1958, the Dal Rae has maintained its original atmosphere, too, right down to a piano bar with live entertainment and a dance floor. And, most important, it has preserved a tradition otherwise found only in private clubs -- knowing its customers by name and treating them like the most important people in the whole wide world. |

| It's still "the good ol'
times" at this "straight-out-of-the-'50s" "oasis of
fine dining" that continues to offer a Continental "menu from
its early days - lobster Thermidor", "fabulous chopped
salad", "steak and martinis for the boys", "even
cherries jubilee" prepared tableside; though there's "no
counting calories here", fans say it's a "trip down memory
lane" that's "worth the trek" to Pico Rivera.
There’s “always a crowd after a day at the
races” at this Pico Rivera Continental where the “’50s retro”, “old-school
decor” complements the “old standbys” served from “the best Caesar salad”
tossed tableside to “excellent” prime rib and lobster Thermidor followed by
bananas Foster; the “owners make you feel welcome”, and even if the
“expensive” tabs are au courant, this “time warp” is the “best thing around
for miles.” |
