Shanghai Blues restaurant and bar opened on January 27, 2005. Situated in the building that formerly housed the St Giles Library, the restaurant and bar is in keeping with the understated luxury of its surroundings.

Executive Chef, Hong Qiu Feng, previously at Beijing International Conference Centre, has been specially flown in from China to lead a skilled Kitchen team. Qiu Feng brings an immense wealth of experience and unique culinary influences to Shanghai Blues, creating a menu for serious Dim Sum and seafood lovers.

General Manager Andrew Hung is a superb host, his attention to detail is legendary. His team of serving staff will give you an unforgettable dining experience.

The menu of Shanghai Blues focus on traditional cuisine from Shanghai, offering an authentic regional dining experience.
Signatures dishes include:
Emperor Dim Sum with abalone, sea cucumber and shark's fin
Eel fillets in honeyed barbecue sauce
Shanghai "Shui Jiao" in exotic chili sauce
Pumpkin dumplings with prawns and minced pork
Braised pork belly in special Chinese herbs and vinegar

The restaurant has three distinct rooms with a mezzanine level overlooking the main bar and dining room area. Renown Interior designer Tully Filmer cleverly fused the 17th and 21st century ambiance to give a contemporary twist on traditional Shanghai decor. The result is a visually luxurious and warm space.

“Discreetly situated in a smartly converted public library in Holborn, this high-ceilinged, lantern-hung Chinese newcomer offers two separate dining rooms (one nonsmoking) plus a cosy mezzanine level featuring a piano bar and regular live bands; the lengthy yet well-organised menu of dim sum and upscale Shanghai fare comes courtesy of a former chef to the Chinese government, and is supported by wines from £20.”
