This New York Times acclaimed American Bistro is housed in an old mill building on the banks of the Pawcatuck River. It boasts a fantastic bar with a fireplace and view of historic downtown Westerly, two nice sized dining rooms overlooking the river, seasonal outdoor dining, a Wine Spectator Award winning wine list, and lunch and dinner menus that take advantage of all the fresh local seasonal produce and seafood Rhode Island has to offer.

The Up River Café represents owner Daniel King's vision for a classic neighborhood bistro. It offers friendly and attentive service, meals prepared simply and from fresh ingredients found locally, bartenders with an understanding of the nuances of classic cocktails, and a unique and ever-changing wine list highlighting boutique American wineries.
 
 
In one of three dining rooms, in the cocktail bar, or on the outdoor patio, guests may enjoy a three-course meal accompanied by a bottle of their favorite wine or perhaps entertain a Classic Burger with French Fries, an Old Fashioned Root Beer Float, and a bottle of their favorite micro-brew. The Up River Cafe has always aimed to make either experience equally as enjoyable.
The Up River Café is happy to host private parties and special events. Its upstairs private party room accommodates 35 - 40 guests for a sit down meal, or more guests for a cocktail party format.
